Recently, Ship & Shore Environmental designed and fabricated a customized Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) system for Starflex Packaging to abate emissions from their flexographic manufacturing operations. A 33,000 scfm RTO with high thermal efficiency was designed to operate at the optimum flow, in conjunction with press operations, meeting VOC requirements and increasing as necessary with production. Because of the high thermal efficiency of this RTO system, relatively little fuel will be required to sustain the operating temperature. Often the fuel value of the incoming VOC will be enough to suffice.
On July 1, 2013 The Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) congratulated member Starflex Packaging on becoming certified as a Sustainable Green Printer (SGP) by the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership.
