Meet the Air Quality Mandate Efficiently
October 1, 2013 3:30 pmMeet the Air Quality Mandate Efficiently
Today, a highly energy-efficient Air Pollution Control technology used to abate emissions from many manufacturing operations and is commonly referred to as a RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer). RTOs are used for abating volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), Fumes, Odors and so forth.
RTOs oxidize VOC-laden air emissions at a high temperature range usually between 1500°F to 1600°F for a period of 1-2 seconds by binding carbon molecules (VOCs) with oxygen molecules and discharging carbon dioxide to atmosphere. The heat from the oxidation process is collected and used as an energy source for operation of the RTO. After initial start-up, many RTO systems do not need external fuel for running the system. That means the RTO may operate auto-thermal, in a self-sustaining mode, while destroying VOCs by the heat of combustion produced through the oxidation process.
The RTOs’ economical technology reliably cleans VOC-laden air emissions from many different types of processes; printing, chemical, landfill, composite, bulk loading terminals, barge degassing, food manufacturing, and many other industries. Depending on the application, RTOs typically are designed with a 98%-99.5+% destruction efficiency.
RTOs designed and fabricated by Ship & Shore Environmental meet the most stringent air pollution abatement regulations. We custom design our abatement system to meet each unique process application. Let our team help you get in compliance and stay in compliance, improve efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gases and regulatory issues.
