BIG CHANGES TO AIR EMISSION STANDARDS FOR THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY
Is Your Aerospace Facility Impacted? Final Amendments to
the Aerospace NESHAP – 40 CFR 63 Subpart GG
The Environmental protection agency (EPA) launched final amendments about the National Emission Standards for Aerospace Manufacturing and Rework Facilities (Aerospace NESHAP) based on the recently completed risk and technology review (RTR). The major adjustment to the regulation include:
- New restriction and limitation on volatile organic compound (VOC) and hazardous air pollutant (HAP) for certain specialty coatings, such as Fastener and Parts Coating Operations, Spray Coating, Dip/Spin Coating,…
- The owner or operator of an affected source shall develop a written startup, shutdown, and malfunction plan that describes, in detail, procedures for operating and maintaining the affected source during periods of startup, shutdown, and malfunction. Operating procedures will be subject to the emission standards at all times
- Under the new regulation, New electronic reporting requirements through EPA’s Compliance & Emissions Data Reporting Interface (CEDRI).
- simplification of recordkeeping & reporting requirements for compliant coatings-under the new regulation, The EPA expects some additional potential cost savings from the alternative compliance reporting procedures and demonstration.
