Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Everyone is familiar with the Three R’s of Sustainability used as an approach to conserve available resources and protect the environment. It allows for overall pollution reduction, avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions as well as the development of sustainable practices and technologies. The Three R’s – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle – can apply to oxidizer performance as well.
Reduce the amount of air introduced to the oxidizer unit. This can be accomplished through the proper design of the capture system. A well-designed system improves the capture efficiency of the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) as well as limits the flow to the oxidizer.
Reuse air when possible. Consider cascading air from low concentration sources, such as floor sweeps, to sources of higher VOC levels, such as ovens, where the stream can be enriched and improve the level of performance of the oxidizer.
Recycle the heat. Secondary heat exchangers can supply both process heat as well as general building heat.
Ship & Shore Environmental can help your facility evaluate the overall performance of your oxidizer. From the design of Permanent Total Enclosures (PTE), to the evaluation of heat recovery options and related energy saving rebates, Ship & Shore will enhance your operations’ sustainability efforts while improving your bottom line.
