Renewable Energy or Carbon Capture and Storage” (CCS)
August 16, 2013 10:46 pmFossil-Fueled Power Plants are the biggest source of carbon dioxide (CO2) in to the air. It is possible to capture it and deposit in the ground by using Carbon Capture and Storage” (CCS) technology.
According to EU and International Energy, CCS helps limit global warming to a maximum of two degrees Cesius (35.6 degrees Fahrenheit) while it is a safe technology.
On other side, Fischedick and the energy company RWE predict that CCS added more cost to generated electricity as compared to renewable energy. CCS technology is a controversial technology and develops very slowly in Europe according to EU commission. For example, CCS failed in Germany based on resident concerns and politics opposing the technology.
Claudia Kemfert, a climate expert noted that renewable energy is more suitable for sustainable low emission energy.
