Overview
A leading biogas facility in Galveston, Texas partnered with Ship & Shore Environmental to take control of its emissions and meet TCEQ compliance with confidence. As part of the facility’s renewable natural gas (RNG) production, low-calorific off-gas containing methane, VOCs, and CO needed a powerful and efficient abatement solution.
The answer: a custom-engineered 15,000 SCFM Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO), designed to destroy harmful emissions, reduce energy costs, and stay ahead of tightening state and federal air quality regulations.
The Solution
Installed in May 2024, the RTO system was built for performance and precision:
- >98% VOC destruction efficiency
- ~95% thermal energy recovery
- Low-NOx burner options (80 ppm / 20 ppm)
- Optimized for 1,450°F – 1,500°F operation
- Dual LEL sensors & ASME-rated air tank
- Pre-wired, fast-track installation
This wasn’t just a compliance solution — it was a long-term emissions strategy, engineered around the unique demands of biogas upgrading.
What the Client Said
“Ship & Shore didn’t just deliver an oxidizer — they delivered a complete, engineered compliance solution. Their attention to detail, turnaround time, and technical expertise gave us full confidence that we were future-proofed for TCEQ.”
— Plant Director, Galveston Biogas Facility
